Automating the Delivery Network for a Three-Sided Marketplace
Deliveroo’s Delivery Network connects thousands of restaurants and riders to deliver food to hungry customers. Estimating the ideal number of riders in a certain place at a certain time or which rider should pick up an order and when are examples of decisions which are key to providing a delightful service to our customers and a great experience for the riders and the restaurants. This presentation will describe how Machine Learning and optimisation are used to automate these decisions and deal with the complex network dynamics and interactions.
Alessio is a Senior Data Science Manager at Deliveroo where he is leading the teams working on the company’s complex logistics and supply management problems. Prior to joining Deliveroo, Alessio was at WIREWAX, an interactive video company, where he helped building the Computer Vision and Machine Learning algorithms allowing users to create engaging interactive experiences in online videos. Alessio holds a PhD in Computer Vision and Machine Learning from the University of Genoa (Italy) and he was a PostDoc Research Associate in Medical Robotics at Imperial College, London.
