Cardiovascular Signals in Photoplethysmography: Heart Health from the Wrist

Wearable sensors provide the opportunity for continuous passive monitoring of health indicators. In particular the heart rate sensors can extract the pulse waveform; and that waveform can be mined for heart health indicators. At present wearable devices only mine for the heart rate; but there's a lot of cardiovascular activity that affects its shape.

Graeme is engineering lead on Google Fit as it pivots into the health space. His team build apps for Android, iOS and wearable devices as well as a platform for third party fitness and health developers. One particular passion is researching digital biomarkers that can be inferred from both mobile and wearable devices.
