Ignacio G. López-Francos is a Senior Research Engineer with the Intelligent Systems Division at the NASA Ames Research Center. His current research focuses on assured autonomy, rad-tolerant neuromorphic computing, and vision-based navigation. He also supports VIPER, NASA's first lunar robotic rover mission, by developing ML-based tools to enhance lunar orbital imagery. Prior to that, he worked as an AI Research Scientist at NASA's Space Portal Office, where he led the research and development of AI applications supporting NASA's science and exploration objectives. He has a hybrid background in engineering and computer science and over eight years of industry experience at companies such as Meta and United Airlines.
