The session will cover the evolution of the smartphone toward becoming the smart remote control for the connected home, controlling your TV, DVR, set-top box, but also thermostats, lighting and other appliances, etc. Peel has faced tremendous technology and partnership challenges to gain its prominent position as the leading smart remote in the world with 100 million+ users. Our challenge now is to move beyond controlling the entertainment stack and providing smart content recommendations to adding support for the myriad new connected home devices coming on the market, including control through new connection modes such as bluetooth and WiFi. Our move in this direction has been very organic, and bottom-up with customers, particularly those in developing regions such as China, India and Latin America, requesting that we support the myriad IR controlled appliances in their homes.
