Adding a Third Dimension: Autonomy in the Air

Deep learning is well on the way to solving autonomy for cars, and research attention is turning to the next frontier: air travel. We'll look at why electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft are now feasible and being developed, and how their control systems will differ from those of ground vehicles. We'll also look at the huge potential that deep learning offers in this space, but also its unique safety and regulatory challenges.

Jasmine Kent is the CEO of Daedalean AG, a Swiss startup dedicated to safety critical autonomous navigation systems for aircraft. She previously held senior engineering and management roles within Google's VR and YouTube divisions, where she specialized in real time video and communications systems, and worked on graphics optimization at SEGA.
