Michael Brooks, who holds a PhD in quantum physics, is a New Scientist consultant and host of many of New Scientist’s Instant Expert days. He is the author of several books, including the bestselling 13 Things That Don’t Make Sense and Free Radicals: The Secret Anarchy of Science. He is currently writing a Blueprint for Energy Access for the Waterloo Global Science Initiative, an NGO based in Ontario, Canada. This document will lay out pathways for achieving global energy access in accordance with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 7.
