When Dreaming Doesn’t Spark Joy

Our dreams are based on what we know and are limited by what we fear. But what happens when our dreams do not live up for the future we want to have? In this talk we will walk through the journey of a young woman dreaming to be a software engineer. We will see her struggle to stay on track and how she found freedom in breaking out from those tracks and following her instinct into new adventures.

This is my personal story of how I navigated my career. This story is an invitation to question your own limitations, and a guide to reshape your dreams and career path.

Maria helps engineers and managers increase their impact by being their authentic selves. When she’s not an engineering manager at Monzo bank, Maria is a comedian, a capoeirista, a writer and overall trouble maker.

Prior to Monzo, Maria worked as an engineer and led her previous engineering team through a merger. She taught women and university students how to code and launch their first websites. She co-founded and co-closed two startups, and scouted for better startups to get their first funding in London.
